News Americas, NY, NY, Fri. Sept. 18, 2026: The Department of Homeland Security says U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has deported a Haitian national to Haiti, nearly a year after a video of his arrest, in which he shouted “f**k Trump, Biden forever,” drew widespread attention online.
According to DHS, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations office in Boston arrested Wisteguens Jean Quely Charles on January 22, 2025, in Mattapan, Massachusetts. DHS said Charles is a member of the Back Block Money Gang and has 17 prior convictions, including assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying ammunition without a firearm identification card, and trespassing. Charles had entered the U.S. lawfully July 13, 2013 in Miami, Florida; however, he violated the terms of his lawful admission.
Charles was deported to Haiti on September 10, DHS said. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin issued a statement on the deportation. “This illegal alien gang member from Haiti had quite the rap sheet, with convictions for assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest, and drug trafficking, among other heinous crimes,” Mullin said. “He went viral for praising Biden as he was getting arrested, because he knew that the Biden Administration’s open borders turned America into a paradise for criminals like him. The Trump Administration has finally done what both the Obama and Biden Administrations failed to do and deported this criminal back where he belongs.”
According to DHS, Charles was granted Temporary Protected Status by the Obama administration in February 2013 and entered the US in July 2013. USCIS terminated his TPS in July 2022, and a Department of Justice immigration judge issued a final order of removal against him on November 7, 2025.
