Kaizer Chiefs could part ways with Nkosingiphile Ngcobo after more than seven years at the club.
The midfielder is entering the final season of his contract, with a possible early termination now reportedly on the cards, according to Soccerbeat.
Ngcobo came through the Chiefs academy and was once regarded as one of the club’s promising young talents. However, despite spending several years with the senior team, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular and make a significant impact.
Former Orlando Pirates winger Lebohang Mokoena believes Chiefs may have shown too much patience with the midfielder and feels a move away could benefit both player and club.
“Should have left last season or two seasons back. I think he was given grace. He’s been there as a youngster and we’ve been saying youngster, youngster, but he hasn’t really done much,”Mokoena said on Soccerbeat.
“He is a quality player and has a good left foot, as you’ve seen the club try him in different positions.
“He hardly creates and hardly scores, so it was bound to happen. A move was supposed to happen a long time ago, according to me.
“He needs to leave to get more game time and probably work on other aspects of his game which he couldn’t do at Kaizer Chiefs.”
There was an expectation that Ngcobo would eventually develop into one of the senior figures at Chiefs, but his career has not quite followed that trajectory.
The 31-year-old has made around 98 league appearances and more than 105 total professional appearances for Amakhosi during his senior career, having also featured in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge earlier in his career.

With his contract entering its final season, Ngcobo’s future at Naturena is now uncertain, and the coming months could determine whether his long association with the club comes to an end.
