Louis-Martin is a partner in the Real Estate group of the Montréal office. With nearly 30 years of experience, he is a seasoned expert in real estate law.
In this capacity, he advises a wide range of clients, including developers, contractors, investors, asset managers and financial institutions on many aspects of their real estate operations, including development and partnerships, sales and acquisitions, financing, management and leasing. Louis-Martin has also been mandated to provide legal advice in the context of infrastructure projects.
An outstanding negotiator, his expertise is recognized and sought after thanks to his extensive experience related to often complex cases, his ability to diffuse tense situations and facilitate the conclusion of transactions. He is also highly appreciated as a mentor to young lawyers seeking to establish themselves and make their way in the profession.
For over 20 years, Louis-Martin has been a regular speaker on current issues in real estate law, notably for the Canadian Bar Association. He has also been repeatedly recognized as a leading lawyer in real estate law by numerous prestigious directories, including the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and the Best Lawyers in Canada guide.
Louis-Martin obtained an LL.B. from the Université de Montréal in 1985 and was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1986.
Prior to joining Fasken, Louis-Martin was a partner at another Canadian law firm. Earlier in his career and before moving into private practice, he spent twelve years as legal counsel for a major Canadian financial institution.
