“A Commercial Club”: Netherlands National Football Team Manager Slams Manchester United Amidst Managerial Issues

Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United, no manager could successfully bring back the glory days at Old Trafford.

Netherlands national football team manager Louis van Gaal is one such manager who tried to take Manchester United to the top of European Football.

Ahead of Netherlands’ international friendly against Germany, van Gaal made a major statement.

He suggested Erik ten Hag to join a football club. In doing so, van Gaal also took a dig at his previous employers by calling Manchester United a “commercial club”.

Louis van Gaal said, “Erik ten Hag is a great coach and that is always good for Manchester United. But Manchester United are a commercial club, so it’s a difficult choice for a coach. He’d better go to a football club.” (H/T: BBC)

Ralf Rangnick is going to be the Manchester United manager till the end of the season. After that, Rangnick is likely to continue in a consultancy role at the club.

Thus, the Red Devils are currently looking for a suitable candidate to take over from Ralf Rangnick after the end of this campaign.

Who is most likely to become the Manchester United manager in the 2022/23 season?

It looks like a new man is going to be in charge once again at Old Trafford next season. Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag, and PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino, are the most likely options. According to reports, United have already held talks with the Ajax boss.

But nothing is official yet. Surprisingly, there seems to be a divided opinion among the Manchester United fan base regarding who should be in charge of the team for the next season.

Erik ten Hag has been the manager of Ajax for several years. He signed with the Dutch side back in 2017. One of his major accomplishments during his time at Ajax so far is taking the Dutch side to the UEFA Champions League Semi-finals in the 2018-19 campaign.

Ajax defeated European giants like Real Madrid and Juventus. But interestingly, they lost in the semi-finals to Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Thus, both Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag have proved themselves on the biggest platform of European Football. Both of them are extremely talented managers.
