An Auckland supermarket is filled with smoke after a fire in an aisle.
Firefighters were called to Countdown Mt Wellington at 6.11pm on Thursday, Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager Ryan Geen said.

More 111 calls came in as two fire engines raced to the scene.
Upon arrival five minutes later, a fire was discovered on some shelving in the shopping area, which had become “extensively smoke logged”.

A fire was reported in the aisles of Countdown Mt Wellington.
The fire was contained with a single hose and firefighters remain on the scene to help with the smoke.
A fire investigator is also at the location determining the cause of the fire. It’s not yet clear if the fire was suspicious.
A Countdown spokesperson said the Mount Wellington store will be closed as the company assesses the extent of the damage.
“Our team are all safe, and we’re providing them with support as needed. We’ll also make sure any food that is damaged and is edible is donated to our local food rescue partner,” the spokesperson said.

Police are in attendance alongside FENZ, making inquiries.
