Baton debacle ruins Kenya's 4x100m relay dream

Kenya’s hopes of medaling in the men’s 4x100m relay blew up in smoke as the quartet failed to finish the Commonwealth Games final at the Alexander Stadium on Sunday afternoon.


 Samuel Imeta had run the opening leg in great fashion, but Dan Kiviasi took off early, crossing the exchange zone and making the baton handover impossible, leaving Mike Mokamba and Ferdinand Omanyala stranded.


England eventually claimed the gold medal in a time of 38.35 seconds with Trinidad and Tobago settling for silver in 38.70 seconds as Nigeria took the bronze in 38.81 seconds.
