Bravo And Bishop Become First-Ever CPL Hall Of Fame Inductees

Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop become the first-ever inductees into the new CPL Hall of Fame at a September 15 gala in Barbados.

News Americas, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Tues. August 18, 2026: Before there was a Caribbean Premier League CPL Hall of Fame, there had to be a first class. On September 15th, that history gets made, and both names belong to Trinidad.

Dwayne Bravo, the most decorated player in CPL history, and Ian Bishop, the voice that’s narrated the tournament’s biggest moments since it launched in 2013, will be officially inducted at a gala at The Hilton Hotel in Barbados, becoming the first two people ever enshrined in the new Hall of Fame.

The player who never stopped winning

Bravo’s case for going first practically writes itself. Over an 18-year career, the 42-year-old won more than 15 T20 titles worldwide, including two ICC Men’s T20 World Cups with West Indies in 2012 and 2016, multiple Indian Premier League crowns with Chennai Super Kings, and silverware in the Big Bash and Pakistan Super Leagues. He was the first bowler in T20 history to reach 500 wickets and sits third all-time in CPL wickets with 129.

Within the CPL itself, no one has won more: five titles as a player with Trinbago Knight Riders and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, plus a sixth as head coach when he guided the Knight Riders to glory in 2025.

“It’s a real honour to be the first player inducted into the CPL Hall of Fame,” Bravo said. “I’ve played cricket all over the world, but there’s nothing like playing at home. CPL is a true celebration of Caribbean culture and the game.”

The voice that made you feel it

Bishop’s induction honors a different kind of greatness, the ability to make millions of people around the world feel the electricity of Caribbean cricket, even from thousands of miles away. The former West Indies fast bowler turned broadcaster has spent over a decade behind the CPL microphone, turning moments into memories with commentary widely considered among the best the sport has ever produced.

“Cricket has given me so much, and commentary has allowed me to give something back to a game and a region I love deeply,” Bishop said. “This tournament has always represented something bigger than the sport itself; it’s a stage for Caribbean talent, culture and pride, and I’m grateful to have had a courtside seat to its history.”

A night for more than cricket

The September 15th gala will draw the biggest names in West Indies cricket together for what’s already shaping up as one of the region’s unmissable nights of the year. But the evening carries purpose beyond celebration: proceeds go directly to The Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation, supporting prostate cancer awareness and testing access across the Caribbean, a cause that turns a night of individual legacy into something benefiting the wider region.

Two Trinidadians. One tournament that became a symbol of Caribbean pride. And now, one Hall of Fame that starts its story with both of their names.

NewsAmericasNow will continue covering Caribbean cricket’s biggest moments and milestones.
