Campaign Tena!: Kenyans Ask Ruto to Start Working after He Took Swipe on Deep State Again

• President William Ruto castigated the Azimio team for relying on the system in the 2022 presidential election
• However, sentiments by Ruto were not received well by a section of social media users
• Most of them called on the president to fulfill his campaign pledges instead of reminding Kenyans how he won the election

President William Ruto has found himself on the receiving end after he appeared to mock his 2022 state house race opponents over what he termed reliance on the deep state.

During a stopover in Embakasi Central, Nairobi, the president appeared to take a swipe at the Azimio team, arguing that he warned them against trusting in the ‘system’.

“Wale majamaa walikuwa wanajifanya ati ni deep state…Niliwaambia hiyo system ni hewa, nyinyi ndio kusema. Si mimi niliwaahidi ya kwamba hakuna mtu ataiba kura zetu, si walijaribu, si walikutana na sisi,” William Ruto said on Wednasday, October 12.

However, sentiments by the head of state attracted criticism from a section of Kenyans who wondered why the president was reminding them about election campaigns instead of working.

Gov’t to employ 30,000 teachers

Earlier, Ruto said his Kenya Kwanza administration will employ 30,000 teachers across the country beginning January next year as one way of tackling the shortage of teachers in schools.

During the official opening of Komarock South Primary School in Embakasi Central, the head of state said this will be the first phase of absorbing more than 116,000 teachers.

“I understand that we have a huge shortage of teachers in the country. And we agreed that during the elections that we will consistently and deliberately reduce the gap between the number of teachers in the school and those supposed to be in the school,” Ruto said on Wednesday, October 12
