Candace Cameron Bure has seemingly responded to JoJo Siwa calling her the “rudest celebrity I’ve met.”
On Sunday, July 24, the So You Think You Can Dance judge, 19, took to TikTok to share a video of her “pool day.” In the clip, she called out the Fuller House alum, 46, while quickly flashing a photo of the star to her followers.
Siwa was taking part in the latest TikTok trend in which people name the rudest, nicest and coolest celebrities they’ve ever met. After calling out Bure, the YouTuber revealed Miley Cyrus was the nicest star she’s ever met and Zendaya was her celebrity crush.
Though Bure didn’t specifically mention Siwa’s accusation, she simply shared a Bible quote on July 25 to her Instagram Stories as the story picked up traction. “Trust the Lord always, Isaiah 26:4,” the message read.
It’s unclear what lead to the alleged encounter between Siwa and Bure. That being said, the Dance Moms alum attended the Fuller House premiere in 2016. They were also both on Dancing With the Stars, though on separate seasons.
In December 2019, Siwa and Bure appeared on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show together.
“I brought gifts!” Bure told host Kelly Clarkson while passing out presents. She handed one to Siwa, who sat beside her, and said: “And one for you, JoJo, it has an extra, extra big bow on it.”
“I heard you like a lot of sweet things,” Bure told Siwa, who said, “Oh yeah.”
As she pulled out what was in the box, the Hallmark actress continued: “These are all cookie cutters and little recipe cards, so you can have someone make them for you while on tour.”
After the “D.R.E.A.M.” singer’s TikTok started making the rounds online, fans were torn. Some pointed out that Bure’s alleged behavior may have stemmed from her conservative and religious views, while others slammed that argument. Siwa came out as gay in 2021.
“I mean, Candace is a good Christian evangelical, so this checks out perfectly. I’d be surprised if someone told me she was kind,” one person tweeted, while another added that “she is a Republican,” so “no one is surprised.”
In response, a separate user asked: “You are going to base her being rude because of her political beliefs? That doesn’t seem fair.”
Meanwhile, someone else defended: “There’s absolutely NO WAY @candacecbure
is the rudest you’ve ever met, and FYI ‘exposing’ someone (falsely at that) says a lot more about your character than theirs. #teamcandace.”
Newsweek reached out to Bure and Siwa’s representatives for comment.
