The Elitist Media evening news continue on their mission to report as little as possible on the midterm elections unless there is a clear opportunity to prop a liberal Democrat up. Case in point, the latest White House roundup on the CBS Evening News.
Consider what passed for their reporting on the Texas Senate race:
DOUBLE STANDARD: @CBSEveningNews coverage of TXSEN today spotlighted Ken Paxton’s trip to Dubai while omitting James Talarico’s prolonged absence from the campaign trail. The Media Bros will continue to whine about CBS News being “MAGA-aligned”, or something pic.twitter.com/D8EC65r3DR

WEIJIA JIANG: Contests are even tight in reliably red states like Texas, where spending in the U.S. Senate race has surpassed $500 million. The scandal-plagued GOP candidate, Ken Paxton, is seen in a new video obtained by The Wall Street Journal at a party in Dubai on New Year’s Eve, 2024 with two American fugitives.
As we often say here at the MRC: if it weren’t for double standards, there’d be none at all. As we all know, Democrat candidate James Talarico was off the campaign trail for nearly two weeks reportedly due to a nasty bout of the flu. There was no journalistic curiosity as to this absence, unexplained until Talarico reemerged over the weekend. And even then, there is no acknowledgement of it. It is the literal tree falling in the woods with no one to witness it.
Paxton, on the other hand, was subjected to drip-drip-drip coverage of his leaked conversation with a lobbyist. This reporting filled the vacuum left by Talarico’s absence and stood as the sole focus of Texas coverage last week.
Paxton’s trip to Dubai and alleged fugitive hang isn’t not newsworthy, perhaps, but it does smack of a blatant double standard given the complete lack of scrutiny accorded to Talarico. And the selective omissions start getting really obvious after a while.
The rest of the Washington roundup opened with the resignation of US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, President Trump’s remarks on the resignation, an acknowledgement of Katie Zacaria’s first press conference as White House Press Secretary, and closed out with President Trump’s trip to Alaska to stump for Senator Dan Sullivan.
With the midterm three weeks away, the Elitist Media are running hard and through the tape, ensuring scrutiny only falls on Republicans.

TONY DOKOUPIL: Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former fiancee of Donald Trump, Jr. is now also the former U.S. Ambassador to Greece. She resigned today amid allegations she asked a major donor to pay off her six-figure personal credit card bill in exchange for access to the Trump White House. Here’s Senior White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang.
WEIJIA JIANG: Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle’s resignation followed several allegations of misconduct, including asking a GOP donor to pay off a six-figure credit card bill in exchange for political favors. The new White House Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia, broke the news during her first briefing.
KATIE ZACHARIA: We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well.
JIANG: President Trump, whose son Don, Jr. was once engaged to Guilfoyle, seemed to distance himself.
DONALD TRUMP: She wasn’t a member of my family. She-I guess she dated my son a long time ago. (UNINT) And now she went to Greece, she was doing a good job, but we didn’t like what we were reading.
JIANG: Trump weighed in on his way to campaign in Alaska. Gas and diesel prices, worsened by the Iran war, have become a burden for Republican candidates.
TRUMP: When you have a sitting president, no matter how good, nobody has done what I’ve done. Nobody. Not even close. But no matter how good they seem to be, they are at a big disadvantage. Tremendous disadvantage.
JIANG: Contests are even tight in reliably red states like Texas, where spending in the U.S. Senate race has surpassed $500 million. The scandal-plagued GOP candidate, Ken Paxton, is seen in a new video obtained by The Wall Street Journal at a party in Dubai on New Year’s Eve, 2024 with two American fugitives. Here in Alaska, a state that Trump won by 13 points in 2024, incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan is fighting for his political career against Democrat Mary Peltola. Polls show they are in a dead heat and Tony, the result could determine control of the U.S. Senate.
DOKOUPIL: All right, Weijia, thank you.
