Sensational scenes in the transfer market this evening have seen Chelsea make a deal for Lamine Camara then see it cancelled.

Wow. In a Deadline Day of amazing drama, there has been a final twist.

The story of the day at Chelsea, as expected, was in midfield. Enzo Fernandez’s move crept forward and was finally confirmed with about 5 hours left in the window.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Lamine Camara then became very serious, a deal was revived and confirmed by all the big names in the transfer game. Lots of fans were delighted that a much needed midfield reinforcement had been brought in. The Welcome to Chelsea videos were all over the timeline.

But Fabrizio Romano has just dropped the bomb that the deal is off.

Chelsea furious about Monaco’s late decision

Romano says that Monaco have cancelled the deal despite a written agreement between the club. The sale of Folarin Balogun to Everton reduced the Ligue 1 side’s need for immediate cash, so they decided to pull out.

According to the transfer insider, Chelsea are “furious” and have called Monaco’s decision a “deeply unprofessional way to do business.”

It leaves them short handed – but they knew all summer an Enzo move was likely and still ended up in this situation. Of course Monaco pulling out cost them – but the deal could have been done yesterday.

One deal Chelsea did manage was selling Deivid Washington to their sister club.

Dario Essugo has secured a season long loan to Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.
