One of the biggest weekends in South African road running – the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and Two Oceans Half Marathon – will take place this coming Saturday and Sunday.
The 56km Two Oceans Marathon, powered by BYD, will take place on Saturday, 11 April, starting at 05:15.
A field of around 12 500 runners, including six-time defending women’s champion, South Africa’s Gerda Steyn, will take to the start line on the corner of Main Road and Dean Street in Newlands.
The finish will be on the University of Cape Town’s rugby fields.
Seventh win loading?
No surprise that Steyn, who is searching for a record-extending seventh consecutive win, will start in Group A at 05:15.
Steyn has won every edition of the women’s race since 2018.
The 2020 and 2021 races were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Steyn set the current race record of 3:26:54 in the 2024 race.

Batches confirmed
Listed below are they confirmed list of the start times and batches between 05:15 (Batch A) and 05:52 (Batch U).
Note, there is no Batch I nor Batch O.
Batch AW is for athletes in wheelchairs and blind runners with their guides.
Regular runners will notice that there are more batches than previous years, but will be happy to learn that each batch will now contain fewer runners than previously (around 676 on average).

Two Oceans Half Marathon
Meanwhile, the half marathon over 21.1km will take place on Sunday, 12 April with the first runners setting off at 06.15.
The start and finish are the same as the ultra marathon.
The half marathon has reportedly attracted just under 17 000 entrants.
Once again, there is no Batch I nor Batch O and Batch AW is for athletes in wheelchairs and blind runners with their guides.
The Half Marathon will also have more batches than usual, but once again, the average number in each (750) is significantly down on previous years.
