An off-duty police officer was involved in the incident and had been stood down while the investigation was to be conducted, a police spokespersons said.
The incident would be referred to the IPCA.
Cordons had been lifted, and the road was open again.
Stancombe Rd borders Barry Curtis Park, which includes a popular cycling, walking and scootering path.
Saturday’s collision was at least the third fatal crash that had occurred on Stancombe Rd in the past five years.
In 2021, a person died following a crash between a vehicle and a truck, and in 2017, a person came off a motorbike and died on the same stretch of road.
