Eliud Owalo Erects Billboards to Welcome William Ruto to Siaya: “Rais Mpendwa”

• Eliud Owalo is a seasoned economist and management strategist who shifted allegiance to William Ruto in September 2020
• Owalo initially worked with Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi before breaking ranks in the political playground
• He will be holding his homecoming ceremony at his village home in Rarieda, an event that will be graced by top leaders in the country

ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo will be holding his homecoming party on Saturday, January 14, at his rural home in Rarieda.

Owalo has erected billboards welcoming President William Ruto to Siaya county to attend his event slated for the weekend.

The economist and management strategist was a close ally of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga but they broke ranks and Owalo joined Ruto.

Owalo joined Ruto in September 2020 hitting almost all camping trails with him.

“Based on the foregoing and informed by a contextual analysis of all the probable 2022 presidential candidates, I have with effect from today made a deliberate and conscious decision to stand with Kenyans by pursuing my political interests and aspirations within the ambit of the hustler political matrix,” Owalo said

Owalo appointed ICT CS

The economist was appointed as Cabinet Secretary for ICT, he was sworn in after the National Assembly committee rubber-stamped his nomination

“This is an opportunity for me to serve my country and to help the president deliver on the promises that we made to Kenyans. There is no greater honour than to serve one’s country. I promise to be responsive to the needs of Kenyans and to serve selflessly with diligence,” Owalo said.

Since he was sworn in, he has rolled out a number of projects with others in the pipeline to upgrade Kenya’s technological status.

Siaya, Raila Odinga’s backyard

The visit by Ruto to Siaya will be his second trip as president in the region to identify development projects for the region.

Siaya and the expansive Nyanza region are regarded as Raila Odinga’s stronghold because of the number of votes he gets from the region and the support he enjoys every electioneering period.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition won the majority of elective positions led by Governor James Orengo.

Out of the 533,602 registered voters, only 4,320 voted for Ruto, while 371,092 voted for Raila in the August 9 General Election.
