EMEET S600L SmartCam Webcam Review

Having a decent webcam in 2026 I think is pretty much a necessity at this point. I mean I use one pretty much every day now, between meetings at work or for my content creation on the channel, or even livestreaming over on Twitch, though I haven’t done that for a long time now. A webcam has been a part of my system now for years and years. And at this time, I’ve got an EMEET S600L SmartCam on my screen because I’ve been asked to give it a test, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Why L? Well, because it’s got a ring light on it which acts as a fill light for your face.

And this is really the quality you can come to expect from the webcam itself. It shoots up to 4K resolutions at 30fps. You can drop this down to 1080p and get a 60fps refresh rate if needed, and if you’re going to be using this webcam on OBS Studio for streaming, or through Teams or Zoom, then 1080p will be absolutely fine.

Now I apologise that I’ve filmed the majority of this video with my Google Pixel 8 Pro. The glare I was getting from capturing the ring light with my Sony A7R2 for some reason was absolutely hideous. So, let’s talk about the ring light because you can set this to a number of different effects including a warm tone, a cool tone, a mix of both, an RGB effect, and even different colours of the rainbow if that takes your fancy. I must say I do prefer the mx of warm and cool, and there is also a brightness slider too. Now, when I’m making content, I’ve got the side LED panel that I typically use, so the ring light here is merely for a bit of fill, and I have the brightness maybe 65% so it’s not hurting my eyes. The camera light is actually really bright, and after a while, it can give off a bit of glare. You don’t need the software either to change the lighting effects. It has a button on the side which can be pressed to cycle through effects, and twisted to change the brightness.

Software-wise it’s exactly the same as the S800 that we took a look at before, which you can see our review card in the top right-hand side now. But yeah, let’s run through the software quickly now.

What I do like about the EMEET software though, is the fact its got a virtual camera option, which I do use inside of OBS when I choose my video input device. This means that I can still change all of the effects on the fly inside of the EMEET software, without interrupting my stream or recording.

The EMEET S600L has a large 1/2″ CMOS sensor which enables users to capture a nicer image in lower light conditions, and I for one must say this camera does do a great job of controlling noise. Of course it has the ring light on there to aid with that but even with it switched off the webcam produces a decent image quality. Autofocus is nice though EMEET are claiming that it can focus in 0.2 seconds. I’ve not really found that, and I find it tends to focus hunt as well. It does have a 73-degree field of view which is alright, though I must say I would want that a little bit wider for my own content and use. I don’t personally have the space to push the camera back much further. It sits on top of my monitor as it has a stand to do so, though it does also have a 1/4″ tripod screwhole too if your desk is setup for that kind of thing.

It has two built-in microphones, which will get you through an online meeting, but will not be good enough in the world of content creation now so get yourself another mic. It also has an interesting whiteboard feature, where if it detects a whiteboard within a scene, it can capture that in isolation which is perfect for those who want to draw, or teach online. I didn’t need this feature for what I need, but it’s there if you do. There’s also a privacy filter toggle on the front of the camera, with a bright red circle on there so you know its closed.

For my content creation, comparing this to the last webcam I tested, the Yolocam S3, what do you think?

EMEET have it up for £73 on their website which I feel is okay seeing as you get the ring light as well as a 4K image. However when the Razer Kiyo can be found at £40, and an OBSBot Meet SE can be found for £63 at the time of making this video, it’s very competitive out there right now. Even the EMEET Pixy AI tracking cam we took a look at not too long before this on Amazon is priced roughly the same as the S600L. So yeah. It’s good. But is it £73 good? That’s debatable.
