Japanese artist Kosuke Ajiro uncovers fragments of a mysterious world in his new show with GR gallery. “Excavation Record I – Sayonara” marks Ajiro’s first solo exhibition in the United States. Adopting the persona of an archeologist, Ajiro takes us into a vast imaginary realm known as the Kingdom of Sally where a journey of transformation and discovery gradually reveals itself. As viewers, we witness the rise and fall of the kingdom through the artifacts of Sally Mythology. Sayonara is the seventh chapter of this mythos which recounts the end of the world. Ajiro creates an immersive narrative, one that effectively places himself as the artist-excavator of his own creation.
“Excavation Record I – Sayonara” is currently on display at GR gallery in New York until October 24th.
