Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the acquisition of Elias Mokwana, a 27-year-old winger who has represented Bafana Bafana at the international level. His addition marks the seventh signing for the club this season, following a stint abroad in North Africa and the Middle East.
Mokwana’s transition to the Soweto-based team became imminent after parting ways with Esperance, and the move was confirmed by Chiefs on Wednesday.

This pre-season, Kaizer Chiefs made several strategic signings to bolster their roster. Thabo Moloisane joined as a free agent after leaving Stellenbosch FC, followed closely by goalkeeper Renaldo Leaners, who also arrived on a free transfer.
The club further enhanced their squad with the addition of Adolf Mtasingwa from Tanzania and another key player, Langelihle Phili, who joined from Stellenbosch FC. In conjunction with this deal, Chiefs secured the loan services of Faiz Abrahams.
Additionally, Khanyisa Mayo, who had been on a season-long loan last term, has now signed a permanent contract with the team.
With the confirmation of Mokwana’s signing, here is the complete list of the seven new players brought in by Kaizer Chiefs this season:
- Thabo Moloisane
- Renaldo Leaners
- Adolf Mtasingwa
- Khanyisa Mayo

Kaizer Chiefs are set to return to competitive action this weekend against Siwelele in the Carling Knockout Cup. A victory in this match would secure their place in the semi-finals, a feat they have struggled to achieve over the last four attempts. Notably, the club has won only one trophy in the past 11 years.
