A recent post on Internet News Flash explored how badly many of Google’s own properties fail to meet Google’s standard of mobile-friendliness.
One tool that wasn’t used in that post is the Mobile-Friendly Test tool in Google Search Console. The reason we didn’t use that tool, even knowing we could share the results (here’s what they look like) is that when compared with the results Google provides on the Page Speed Insights tool and via a deep dive seen in the GoogleChrome.github.io, the tool isn’t very useful.
Google is such a large company that nothing works cohesively. The Mobile-Friendly Test in Google Search Console is just a red light green light by comparison with these other useful tools, Google makes. It’s weird, but for big companies, it’s hard to maintain continuity between products.
