Police on Tuesday arrested a Ground Self-Defense Force member for allegedly breaking into the premises of the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo earlier in the day.
GSDF 2nd Lt. Kodai Murata, 23, of Ebino, Miyazaki Prefecture, who was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Public Security Bureau, admitted to the allegations during police questioning.
“I wanted to convey my opinion to the (Chinese) ambassador (to Japan),” he said. “I planned to kill myself and surprise (the ambassador) unless my opinion was accepted.”
