Huawei’s New Sub-Brand Officially Named Osta, First Models Revealed
In recent developments concerning Huawei’s launch of a new sub-brand initially referred to as Xingmang, or “Starlight,” credible sources have now confirmed that the brand will be officially named Osta. This name is expected to appear on retail packaging, representing a significant step in Huawei’s expansion into new market segments.
Industry insiders indicate that the Osta brand will debut with two flagship models: the Osta O1 and the Osta O1 Pro. These initial offerings aim to establish Osta as a contender in the premium smartphone market.
The Osta O1 model is designed with an innovative curved screen that wraps around its edges, complemented by a prominent circular camera module on the rear. In contrast, the Osta O1 Pro will maintain a wider profile, featuring minimal bezels and an eye-catching horizontal camera strip.
Specifically, the O1 Pro will showcase a 6.39-inch LTPS flat display with a 1.5K resolution and a 16:9.5 aspect ratio, drawing a visual parallel to the much-discussed Pura X View.
Furthermore, the Osta O1 Pro is anticipated to offer multiple configurations, including 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and a high-capacity 16GB/1TB variant. Early reports suggest that the pricing and specifications of these models will align closely with Huawei’s flagship devices, reflecting the current costs associated with high-end memory components. This shift represents a notable contrast to previous expectations that the Starlight series would cater to mid-range users equipped with Kirin 8-series chipsets.
When questioned about the future of wide-screen devices under Huawei’s main brand, one insider indicated that the form factor will continue to be part of Huawei’s primary lineup, alongside the new offerings from the Osta brand.
