Imanuel Bonsu: Dutch-Ghanaian midfielder joins NK Tolmin from United FC
Dutch-Ghanaian midfielder Imanuel Bonsu has joined Slovenian club NK Tolmin from United FC, completing a move on 19 August 2026.
The 23-year-old central midfielder arrives at Tolmin after spending the previous two seasons with United FC in the United Arab Emirates. He joined United FC from Emirates Club on 9 September 2024 and now begins the next stage of his career in Slovenia.
Bonsu was born in Amsterdam and holds Netherlands and Ghanaian nationalities. He stands 1.82m tall, is right-footed and operates primarily in central midfield.
His career includes seven appearances in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, the Netherlands’ second tier, where he played 169 minutes. He also featured in youth competitions in the Netherlands, recording two goals and two assists across 20 appearances in the U17 Div. 1 Fall and Spring campaigns.
Bonsu began his development with Ajax’s youth set-up before moving to Heerenveen’s academy in 2017. He joined Utrecht Youth the following year and progressed through the club’s age-group structure, playing for Utrecht’s under-17, under-18 and under-21 sides.
His move to Emirates Club in February 2024 followed a period without a club after he left Utrecht U21 in August 2022. He subsequently switched to United FC in September 2024, before leaving the UAE side for NK Tolmin.
The transfer gives Tolmin a midfielder with experience in both Dutch football’s development system and the UAE’s professional game. Bonsu’s previous competitions also included appearances connected with the UAE President’s Cup and UAE Pro League, although no playing figures are recorded for those tournaments.
Tolmin are the latest club in a career that has taken Bonsu from the Netherlands to the United Arab Emirates and now Slovenia. The move was completed on 19 August 2026, with the central midfielder joining the Slovenian side from United FC.
