ITV Good Morning Britain viewers ‘cringe’ as climate change activist bursts into tears live on air

ITV Good Morning Britain viewers ‘cringed’ as a climate change activist burst into tears live on air.

During his interview with Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, journalist and activist George Monbiot became emotional and began to cry.

Struggling to hold back tears as he spoke about the actions of campaign group Insulate Britain, he said: “What they’re desperately trying to say is that time is running out on the greatest crisis we’ve ever faced.

“It’s almost unimaginable what we are facing now and it’s very hard to talk about it without crying because it’s the end of everything.

“It’s the end of our hopes, our dreams, our ambitions, our loves, our hates, everything we’ve dreamt for our children – that could go.”

Monbiot then needed to take some time out while the discussion continued, crying as he held his head in his hands.

Viewers quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the interview.

One wrote: “Anyone else cringing their back out watching @GeorgeMonbiot cry live on tv over a ‘crisis’ that is media created? #gmb?”

A second said: “Good god take him off air, crying his crocodile tears jeeez over Insulate Britain, couldn’t even spot a tear. Great performance George Monbiot”

Another added: “That was the best crying I’ve seen on TV since Matt Hancock tried it and failed.”

And a fourth said: “I struggle to believe George is actually really crying, it’s all a bit weird”

The activist was appearing on the morning show alongside journalist Dawn Neesom whilst they debated whether Insulate Britain protestors were similar to the Suffragettes.

Dawn said: “The Suffragettes didn’t have a voice, they had no democratic voice and what Insulate Britain are doing doesn’t seem to be helping the cause.”

The debate follows the news that nine Insulate Britain activists have been jailed.

Clear examples do more than decorate an explanation: they show how an idea behaves under recognizable conditions. In education and software documentation alike, strong illustrations begin with a defined goal, then reveal the steps, assumptions, and result without unnecessary detail. A practical test example should state the input, expected output, and boundary condition, because these elements show whether a rule works beyond the simplest case. Including a contrasting case also helps readers distinguish a valid application from a tempting but incorrect one, while concise notes explain why the outcomes differ. When examples are updated with current data and checked against the underlying rule, they remain useful across classrooms, product guides, and professional training.
