Outgoing Kieni Member of Parliament, Kanini Kega, shared a cryptic message directed at the Mt Kenya electorate after it emerged that he was unable to defend his seat.
in a message shared on his social media pages, the outspoken MP indicated that the region had refused to support him and President Uhuru Kenyatta but it was only a matter of time before they realize what the Head of State wanted for them.
Kega stated that he has no regrets for supporting Azimio La Umoja’s presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, and he would do it again.

“My boss and my friend, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta the Commander-in-Chief, it is just a matter of time that Mount Kenya will realise you meant well for them,” Kega stated.
Kega added that he was looking forward to opening a new chapter after exiting elective politics.
The outgoing Kieni Member of Parliament did not disclose what his next move would be.
“Opening a new chapter, when one door closes another one is opened. Heading to Bomas,” Kanini wrote.
Kega served as Kieni MP for 10 years and he was seeking to recapture his seat for a third term.
He made history in the 2017 elections when he became the only MP in the six constituencies in Nyeri County to be re-elected after garnering 66,203 votes.
The outgoing lawmaker is a strong ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and he has campaigned for Raila Odinga in the Mt Kenya region.
During the voting exercise on Tuesday, Kega noted that the region experienced a low voter turnout due to the lack of a presidential candidate.
“Since 1992, Mt Kenya region has always produced a presidential candidate and that is the reason why the people of this region come out in large numbers. Having no candidate coming from the region can also be blamed for the low turnout,” he opined.
He also criticized the IEBC over the missing of some ballot papers of various posts noting that they should have counterchecked to ensure everything was in place before kicking off the voting exercise.
“There is no way you can import ballot boxes and ballot papers from whichever country, you have a department of quality control and when you are opening the papers on a material day you find that some materials are missing. You can only have yourself to blame,” Kega stated.
