Kate Middleton’s favourite drink really isn’t what we expected

The royals are just like us when it comes to having a drink to celebrate and toast to important occasions or when it comes to winding down in the evening after a stressful day.

Whether it is a refreshing gin and tonic, an exuberant cocktail or a simple beer, the royals are well-known for enjoying an alcoholic beverage from time to time.

Let’s take an intimate glance behind the doors of some of the world’s most exclusive drinks cabinets and see what the Queen and Prince William, as well as other royals drink to take the edge off after a long day.

And when it comes to the Duchess of Cambridge, her reported favourite drink is seriously not what you would expect.

Kate won’t have her 40th ‘rung in’

You would assume that the Royal Family enjoy the most refined and expensive drinks, but that really isn’t the case when it comes to the Duchess of Cambridge.

Catherine is said to be partial to a classic pint of Guinness and has been pictured both pulling a pint and sipping one during an official engagement.

During an official visit to the Guinness Storehouse’s Gravity Bar in Ireland, the couple both enjoyed a pint of the famous drink before William thanked his hosts with the traditional Irish toast “Sláinte.”

Another of Kate’s favourite drinks is a cocktail named ‘Crack Baby’ which was served at the now-closed West London club Boujis.

The cocktail- which the couple enjoyed so much that they reportedly served at their 2011 wedding- is a mix of vodka, Champagne, and passion fruit juice.

Prince William had a wilder side when he was at university

Prince William is the same as his wife when it comes to enjoying certain and unexpected drinks.

While the Duke of Cambridge is said to now enjoy a simple pint- and was pictured doing just that at the Prince Albert Pub in Battersea as he watched the Euro 2020 qualifiers- during his years at St Andrews University in Scotland, he definitely had a wilder side.

He is said to have enjoyed sambuca shots and a cocktail named ‘Treasure Chest’, which is a combination of peach liquor, brandy and champagne and is served in a wooden chest for £135 a pop.

Other members of the Royal Family are also known to have their favourite alcoholic drinks, let’s start with the Queen.

The Queen enjoys the same drink as her late mother

Much like her mother before her, the Queen has quite the penchant for a gin and Dubonnet.

The Queen enjoys her favourite tipple, which is made from two parts Dubonnet and one part gin with two cubes of ice and a lemon slice, regularly.

In 2017, former royal chef Darren McGrady spoke out on reports that the Queen drank four cocktails a day.

He told CNN: “She’d be pickled if she drank that much. All I said was she likes a gin and Dubonnet. That’s her favourite drink.”

Both the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall enjoy the occasional drink

The heir to the throne is also said to enjoy an occasional drink. Whether it’s a crisp gin and tonic when he travels or a Scotch whiskey, Prince Charles has even produced his own brand of Highgrove single malt scotch which he sells for £45. See it here.

Much like her husband, the Duchess of Cornwall thoroughly enjoys a cheeky tipple now and again. Camilla’s drink of choice is known to be red wine and she became the president of the UK’s Vineyard Association in 2011.

Speaking at a reception for the 50th anniversary of the association, the Duchess said: “People always ask me how I became involved in it all.

“Well, first of all, I love wine, but secondly, my father was in the wine business, so I was brought up as a child drinking wine and water rather like the French.”
