Formula One world champion Lando Norris launches his junior open-wheel racing team “LN4 Fusion”. The team will have drivers in Italian F4, FRECA, F3 and potentially F2.
Norris, alongside businessman Dan Richards, will be acquiring the assets of AIX Racing in Formula Three. There are numerous conversations surrounding the team’s involvement in Formula Two after the application procedure was submitted.
This comes a few days after the McLaren driver had his contract extended by the team in a deal which sees him continue for a minimum of four years.
Norris has sought experienced figures in junior racing to establish a team that the reigning world champion hopes to be ‘the leading single-seater race team’.
Assets and key figures involved in the project
Norris’ involvement in junior racing means he has numerous elite connections, including names from open-wheel teams with significant success such as Prema Racing.
Rene Rosin, the former Team Principal of Prema, is regarded as one of the most respected and successful junior racing figures. He will join LN4 Fusion as its team principal.
Rosin has mentored drivers to junior titles, including Norris’ McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and current World Championship leader Kimi Antonelli.
Rosin has professionalism in abundance and is a perfect figure to help the reigning world champion open pathways for upcoming talent.
Joining Rosin is another former Prema key figure, Guillaume Capietto. Capietto will be the team’s racing director.
Both Capietto and Rosin have investments in Alphabet Racing Italia, which was linked to a takeover of AIX late in July 2026, before entering a partnership with Norris and Fusion.
Fusion Motorsport has been a highly successful British karting team for a few decades. Senior figure Dan Hazelwood will assist Norris by nurturing talent within British karting.
The pair hope to promote them into open-wheel motorsport.
The team will operate with a UK-based operation for British Formula 4 and karting. The Italian base operates Formula 3, FRECA and Italian F4, with Formula 2 potentially joining the ranks.
The main aspirations for LN4 fusion
The British driver has outlined his primary goal for his team and is using the success of his dream becoming a reality to secure futures within racing for young talents.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Norris said, “The main objective of this is simply to help younger drivers who have talent and have the ability to get to Formula 1, but probably not financially (stable), and help them in all those other areas reach their end goal.”
Funding has always been a key factor in a driver’s future in junior racing, with the assistance of his partners and his own bonuses from racing. The 26-year-old told Sky Sports.
“Basically my little way of trying to give back, again, using my team, using the people that I’m with, my partners, and give other people, give young drivers a chance. So that’s my more personal side of things, which is pretty cool too.”
Norris enjoyed vast success in junior racing; he was the 2015 MSA Formula champion, 2016 Formula Renault NEC champion and the FIA Formula Three champion in 2018.
He will also oversee an independent project known as ‘The LN4 Legacy Programme’ for drivers who are worthy of receiving opportunities but are being overlooked.
Norris outlined his plan for the programme to his brand, LN4. He said, “It’s fully funded, but it’s about much more than paying for a race seat. It’s about giving drivers the coaching, performance support, management, media and commercial support they need to give them the best chance of succeeding.”
Huge praise for Norris from fellow drivers and FIA authority
Stefano Domenicali backed the world champion’s plan and welcomed him into his role. The F1 Chief Executive said, “Through Lando’s investment and experience. We can build a future, with new drivers, engineers, mechanics, and a tradition that will be followed by motorsport lovers.”
Norris has received praise from fellow British driver Ollie Bearman and Frenchman Pierre Gasly for his new venture.
