A Mobile man was arrested on several charges after his ex-girlfriend reported to Atmore police that the man had stolen her vehicle.
An officer was sent to the woman’s Martin Luther King Drive residence, where the occupant told police that her vehicle had been stolen and she believed her ex-boyfriend was responsible.
An APD investigator contacted the victim again the next day, and she reported that her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Quenten Durgan of Mobile, had stolen the key to the vehicle during a prior domestic incident. The investigator also located and interviewed a witness who reported seeing Durgan driving the vehicle on the evening of June 13.
The investigator notified patrol officers to detain Durgan if he was seen, and he was detained a few minutes later. The victim’s vehicle was recovered shortly thereafter, inside an abandoned building, with all four tires flattened.
Durgan was charged with one count each of first-degree theft of property, first-degree domestic violence (aggravated stalking) as he has been arrested several times in the past year on domestic violence charges against the same victim.
He was also charged with third-degree domestic violence and second-degree criminal mischief in reference to the flat tires.
He was already out of jail on bond for undisclosed crimes, so that bond was revoked. He remained in the Escambia County Detention Center late Friday, July 8.
