Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek says the new environmental law will “turn around the path of destruction” as the government has committed to reaching “zero new extinctions” by 2030.
“We’ve made a commitment to set aside 30 per cent of our land and 30 per cent of our oceans by 2030, so we can protect our precious plants and animals,” Ms Plibersek told Sky News Australia.
“We’ve set aside close to a quarter of a billion dollars to protect our threaten species, so our environmental laws are a really important change.”
