Melbourne and Manly-Warringah head west to Perth as Saturday’s NRL action gets underway, with Cameron Munster returning for the Storm.

Then, the Rabbitohs look to consolidate a spot on the top eight when they take on the Eels.

Live updates: Storm vs Sea Eagles

HT: Storm come alive in the wet, Sea Eagles lead 14-12

Simon Smale profile image

What a strange half of football.

The Storm looked horrific for 30 minutes. Genuinely not worthy of a fifth-grade country team.

Then the rain started and, as if by magic, the Storm came alive!

Two tries in five minutes and the Sea Eagles’ lead was cut to just two points heading into the break.

A staggering turnaround.

39′ Try Storm!

Simon Smale profile image

Hayden Watson darts inside and past a couple of tackles to score a brilliant solo try!

The kick from Nick Meaney is good.

The Storm are within two points despite a shocking first half display!

And the rain continues to tumble down.

39′ Penalty Storm

Simon Smale profile image

Jason Saab tackles a Storm player off the ball.

Another set for the Storm.

38′ Storm ball!

Simon Smale profile image

The Sea Eagles lose the ball through a Joey Walsh error and the Storm are up and about now.

But Sua Fa’alogo has got to go off for an HIA!

The independent doctor, who missed Garrick’s wild smash, has correctly spotted that Fa’alogo was kneed in the head.

Fa’alogo is not happy about it but he has to go off.

37′ Storm electric in the rain!

Simon Smale profile image

Oh my word!

The Storm have come alive! Just add water and they are a different team!

Two fluffed kicks result in broken field play and it almost comes off for them.

First Tryan Wishart gathers a blocked kick and races towards the 20, passing inside to Sua Fa’alongo who is tackled.

Then Cam Munster has a kick that cannons off the head gear of Trbojevic.

The broken field is like a candle to the moth-like Fa’alongo who darts through in a scatter gun away only to be smashed in the tackle for the turnover 10 metres out.

35′ The Storm score!

Simon Smale profile image

Sua Faalogo has attempted a couple of chip and chases in this half that have ended, badly.

That time it didn’t.

Tyran Wishart was there racing through and he grabs the ball and flops on it to score.

The rain has started teeming down again all of a sudden.

The rain makes no difference to the kick in front of the posts though, and the Storm only trail 14-6 despite a horror half of football from this once-great side.

33′ Reuben Garrick is lucky to be on the pitch

Simon Smale profile image

That’s a shocker from Reuben Garrick.

He has flown out of the line and smashed into Joe Chan, who is absolutely livid and with good reason.

Garrick has tried to shoulder charge, collected Chan in the chin managed to flop himself onto the ground with sickening force.

The referee missing that is understandable, but we just saw a replay on Fox Sports, which makes you think the Bunker saw it too, as would the independent doctor.

I give up trying to guess what is called and what isn’t.

31′ Welfare check on Craig Bellamy please

Simon Smale profile image

The Storm lose another ball, it was from a forward pass.

KB said you’d see better skills down at your local park and you’d have to say that’s being generous.

The Storm have completed five of their 12 sets.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:39pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:39pm

28′ The lack of quality is staggering

Simon Smale profile image

Got an uneasy feeling about this game now. Mistake riddled by both sides and a very inexperienced refereeing display. Compared to last nights excellent Warriors v Panthers game I think I could see a better display down at the local park.

– KB

I couldn’t agree more, KB.

This is torrid.

I can’t remember seeing a Storm team play so badly, they have completed just five of 11 sets in this game.

Taniela Paseka is out with an MCL injury

Simon Smale profile image

He is going to have to go for scans to determine how bad that injury is.

But he won’t be back on the field today.

26′ Lehi Hopoate gets air! And a penalty!

Simon Smale profile image

My word!

Lehi Hopoate leaps and hangs and holds himself in the air to collect Jamal Fogarty’s kick.

He might have lost the ball in the air as he went to ground?

The Bunker is looking at it.

He says that Shawn Blore was tackling Hopoate in the air?! I don’t know about that! “Nooooo!” cries one of the Storm players near to the referee.

Hmmm, that’s a tight one.

He’s considered to have tackled Hopoate in the air and it’s going to be a penalty for Manly.

Fogarty kicks it through to make it 14-0.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:32pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:32pm

24′ Taniela Paseka is down now, penalty Sea Eagles

Simon Smale profile image

There was a third man in that tackle by the Storm, and Taniela
Paseka makes his thoughts loudly and explicitly clear: “f*** me” he says, picked up on the referee mic.

Cam Munster was the man who attacked the knee – and he goes over to Paseka as he is helped off by two Sea Eagles staff members.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:30pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:30pm

23′ Manly have another try!

Simon Smale profile image

Tolutau Koula scores!

The Storm keep on giving Manly the ball and this time they just about manage to get it out to the side of the field where Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown is absent from.

The handling was a bit poor from the Sea Eagles,
Lehi Hopoate bobbling the ball as he gathered it.

It’s been low quality to be honest.

The kick is good and the Sea Eagles lead 12-0.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:28pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:28pm

22′ Storm lose the ball, and Moses Leo has a problem

Simon Smale profile image

Oh dear.

Moses Leo is down after being cut down by Nathan Brown.

Both men are struggling a little bit actually, perhaps just a cork.

The Storm lost the ball on the very next play through Tyran Wishart.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:26pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:26pm

20′ Penalty Sea Eagles

Simon Smale profile image

The Storm are penalised for breaking out of the scrum too early – Joe Chan it was.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:25pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:25pm

19′ Storm lose the ball!

Simon Smale profile image

Disaster!

The Storm go nowhere on the first tackle, and then Moses Leo lost the ball playing it to give the Sea Eagles a scrum on their 10 metre line.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:24pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:24pm

18′ Sea Eagles challenge, but it’s unsuccessful

Simon Smale profile image

Cam Munster made a tackle on Haumole Olakau’atu.

Olakau’atu inexplicably attempted a grubber rather than just running over the Storm halfback.

Munster didn’t make an attempt to play at the ball and so the challenge is lost.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:21pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:21pm

15′ Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown sin binned!

Simon Smale profile image

A late, dangerous tackle from Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown on Blake Wilson!

That’s the ruling of the Bunker in any case – but I think that’s incredibly harsh on the Storm winger.

Wilson made the break down the left, passed the ball inside and got tackled momentarily after the ball was passed.

The tackle perhaps was a little bit late, but there could certainly be a case made that he had already committed to making the tackle.

It wasn’t high, and it wasn’t a shoulder charge.

However the Bunker ruled that they way Wilson’s head hit the ground was dangerous…

Hmmmm.

Sualauvi Faalogo was run over later in the move by Tolutau
Koula and got his head slammed into the ground too, was that dangerous? Undoubtedly, but considered a football incident… Interesting – and a big call early on.

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:17pm

Sat 8 Aug 2026 at 3:17pm

13′ Another woeful Storm set

Simon Smale profile image

(Getty Images)

The Storm’s offence looks horrible at the moment, they just can’t catch a trick and just lose the ball whenever they try anything.

The ball hits the ground again off some sloppy passes and it’s a turnover.
