Sky News host Chris Smith says the NSW government thinks Indigenous recognition trumps “all other considerations” – including commemorating Australia’s veterans.
“This weekend is not just a special time for Dads, it’s supposed to be a special commemoration for the service and sacrifice of tens of thousands of merchant mariners who risked their lives or even lost their lives during wartime,” he said.
“But not anymore, because the NSW Government thinks Indigenous recognition trumps all other considerations. It even trumps our dedicated wartime efforts.”
“This year, the NSW Government decided that they couldn’t possibly replace the newly positioned Aboriginal flag with the Red Ensign even for a single day… and even for the annual Merchant Navy commemoration.
“It’s a sad day when insecure and ill-informed politicians choose their woke concern for minority groups over the critical need to keep the memory of our fallen Mariners alive.”
