NTV has continued with its onslaught against competitors after poaching TV47’s seasoned news anchor, Fredrick Muitiriri, just five months on the job.
A source at the Kimathi Street-based media house intimated to Kenyans.co.ke that Nation Media Group’s management had acquired the services of the former police officer to join its Swahili line-up.
Muitiriri was spotted at the twin towers on the morning of Wednesday, July 20, hobnobbing with the company’s elite as the talks advanced.
Another source, who opted for anonymity over the sensitive nature of the matter, confirmed that the news anchor had been scheduled for induction alongside a batch of other other hires.

Muitiriri, however, remained coy on the matter when Kenyans.co.ke reached out to him for a comment.
The journalist now joins NTV’s Swahili line up that consists of Lofty Matambo, Fridah Mwaka, Nicholas Wambua and Salim Swaleh among others.
Muitiriri has had a storied career spanning two sectors, the National Police Service (NPS) and the media landscape, with his recent position being as a news anchor at TV47.
He joined the media house in January 2022 just days after he had announced his departure from the Red Cross-owned station, Switch TV.
In a previous interview with Kenyans.co.ke, Muitiriri noted that his media career kicked off in 2011 when he secured an internship at Ken TV, a content production company located along Mombasa Road.
“I finished school in 2011 and got a contract with an online magazine for three months but I did not like the job. I found another job at a radio station in Nakuru, Hero FM, where I hosted a breakfast show for three months but disagreed with a contractual agreement and left,” he stated at the time.
He later joined the Standard Media Group in October 2013 where his big break came in November when he stepped in for Radio Maisha presenter Anthony Ndiema on Safari Show. Ndiema had proceeded on his annual leave.
His career blossomed when he got hired by Inooro TV, owned by the Royal Media Services (RMS), as a news anchor, a position he held from 2018 to June 2020 before he switched to Switch TV as an English newscaster.
Prior, he served in the police service between 2004 and 2007 in an attempt to raise fees for journalism school, before joining the South B-based Kenya Institute of Mass Communication – KIMC.
