MAYFIELD, Ky. — The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that a tornado originated around 8:10 a.m. Sunday west of Mayfield, near the Graves and Hickman County line.
According to a survey summary provided by NWS, the damage caused by the storm was consistent with an EF-1 tornado. The estimated peak wind was 100 miles per hour, followed a 5 mile path, and had a maximum width of 50 yards. Moderate tree damage was found along the tornado’s path, with some trees uprooted and several large branches broken. A farm outbuilding was destroyed in the path. Seventy to 80 mile per hour winds continued into the south side of Mayfield city limits.
The tornado ended around 8:15 a.m., five miles southwest of downtown Mayfield.
No injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the tornado.
