The driver of one of the trucks was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the investigation, which is still in its early stages, the deceased was driving a truck that slammed into one of the other trucks that was stopped due to construction traffic, said police.

The truck driven by the deceased rear-ended another truck “at a high rate of speed.”

The other drivers weren’t injured. They’re co-operating with police. No charges are expected at this time.

The collision temporarily shut down the highway’s eastbound lanes between Hunter Creek and Laidlaw roads overnight. The lanes have since been reopened.

Anyone who saw the collision, or has dashcam footage of the incident, is asked to contact the B.C. Highway Patrol in Chilliwack at 604-702-4039.
