The Out of Home Media Association Aotearoa has announced the return of the OOHMAA Creative Awards.
The awards will have a refreshed annual format designed to recognise and celebrate the very best out of home creativity, innovation and creative effectiveness across Aotearoa.
Entries open on September 10 and will remain open for eight weeks.
This year’s programme has six categories as follows:
- Digital
- Classic
- Special build
- Technical innovation
- Rising star
- Best multi-format campaign
Path to the world stage
The first four categories have been aligned with the World Out of Home Organization’s global awards, creating a pathway for outstanding work from Aotearoa to be recognised on the world stage.
The two additional categories broaden the programme’s focus. The rising star award will recognise an emerging industry talent making a meaningful contribution to out of home, while Best multi-format campaign will celebrate work that brings an idea to life across three or more OOH formats.
Evolution of OOH
OOHMAA CEO Kath Mitchell says the relaunched awards reflect both the evolution of the medium and the increasingly ambitious work being created for it.
“Out of home has never offered more opportunity for creativity. From the simplicity and scale of a beautifully executed classic billboard to digital, data-led, multi-format and technically innovative campaigns, the medium gives ideas the opportunity to become part of the real world.
“We want the OOHMAA Creative Awards to celebrate the people who understand that potential and inspire the wider industry to think even bigger about what can be achieved through out of home.”
Campaigns will be assessed by an independent judging panel of creative, media, marketing and out of home leaders, with category finalists announced in January.
Festival of OOH
Each category winner will receive a $1,000 Prezzy card and automatic entry for the overall Supreme award.
The Supreme winner will receive a world-class prize that will take Aotearoa’s best out of home talent onto the global stage, with more details to be revealed soon.
The winners will be announced live at OOHMAA’s Festival of Out of Home, taking place at Eden Park in February 2027.
“The awards deserve to be honoured in a way that matches the scale and energy of out of home media,” Mitchell says.
