Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are predicted to have starring roles in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this summer. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children are set to take a ‘visible’ role in the celebrations of Her Majesty’s 70th year on the throne, as part of a ‘royal show of force’.
The Telegraph reports that Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, four, will likely make their debut in the carriage to the Trooping the Colour, and will also likely be seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the famous flyover. The Queen’s great-grandchildren have already appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony at events such as Trooping the Colour in the past.
Additionally, the older two – Prince George and Princess Charlotte – were present at Prince Philip’s memorial service at Westminster Abbey and the Easter Sunday church service recently. Prince Louis was absent for both, due to his age, but it seems the Jubilee celebrations could see him take on a bigger role alongside his older brother and sister.

Being the youngest, Louis has especially been shielded from such events, however he is now the same age as his dad Prince William, when he first rode in a carriage alongside Princess Diana and the Queen mother at 1988’s Trooping of the Colour. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will most likely not confirm their children’s attendance until the last minute.
On the anniversary of the coronation (June 2), Trooping the Colour will return to London as it has been held in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle for the last two years. It will see 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together and parade down The Mall and at Horseguards in front of the Queen before the royals return to Buckingham Palace and watch an RAF flypast from the balcony.
June 2 will also see the lighting of 1,500 Platinum Jubilee beacons in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories. On June 3, a service of thanksgiving will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral. The following day will see the Royal Family attend the Derby at Epsom Downs and the special Platinum Party at the Palace. While the complete line up is yet to be announced, the show will be broadcast on the BBC from Buckingham Palace.
Lastly on June 5, there will be The Big Jubilee Lunch and a grand Platinum Jubilee Pageant which will see hundreds of performers honour the Queen’s reign with art, music, theatre and visual effects.
