Safe Fixes for Minolta Printers

Quick diagnostic checklist

Before replacing anything, note:

  • Which printer model is installed
  • Whether the error appears when printing, starting Windows, or opening a particular program
  • Whether the problem began after a Windows update, printer removal, disk cleanup, antivirus quarantine, or driver change
  • Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Whether one printer fails or every printer fails

The mn350620.dll error usually points to a damaged or incomplete Minolta printer package rather than a missing Windows runtime. The file is associated with the Minolta pcl5e Printer Driver, a legacy printer-driver component from Minolta Co., Ltd.

You may see messages such as:

  • “mn350620.dll is missing”
  • “mn350620.dll was not found”
  • “The code execution cannot proceed because mn350620.dll was not found”
  • “There was a problem starting mn350620.dll”
  • “mn350620.dll could not be loaded”
  • “mn350620.dll is not designed to run on Windows”

Do not begin by downloading the DLL and copying it to System32. That approach often leaves the printer unusable because the driver also needs its INF, catalog, GPD, registry, and spooler-related components.

What mn350620.dll actually is

mn350620.dll is identified as Minolta pcl5e Printer Driver. It is a printer-driver DLL, not a general Windows file used by Visual C++, DirectX, .NET, or games.

Historical Windows printer-driver material associates the file with Minolta PCL5e packages and Windows Vista-era driver locations. That does not mean it is a normal, currently supported Windows 10 or Windows 11 system DLL. A file can be genuine and still be too old for a modern Windows installation.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The error can appear to come from a program or game because Windows loads printer components through the print spooler and installed printer drivers. No current product-specific evidence ties this filename to a particular modern application. If the message appears while printing or during startup, investigate the installed printer first.

Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the affected printer

This is the safest and most likely fix. It replaces the complete printer package instead of supplying one isolated DLL.

Identify the printer first

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Select Printers & scanners.
  4. Record the exact printer name and model.
  5. Select the printer and note whether Windows identifies a Minolta or Konica Minolta driver.

Also check your system architecture:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select About.
  4. Look beside System type.

A 64-bit Windows installation normally needs a 64-bit printer driver. However, a 32-bit printing application may also require a compatible 32-bit driver component. Do not select a package only because its name resembles your printer. Match the printer model, Windows architecture, and connection type.

Remove the printer

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Select Printers & scanners.
  4. Select the affected printer.
  5. Click Remove.
  6. Confirm the removal.
  7. Restart Windows.

Add it again

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Select Printers & scanners.
  4. Click Add device.
  5. Allow Windows to search.
  6. Select the exact printer when it appears.
  7. Print a test page.

Microsoft recommends Windows Update as the preferred way to obtain printer drivers. If Windows does not find a suitable driver, download the complete package from the official Konica Minolta support page for the exact model. Avoid substituting a similarly named Minolta printer.

If the test page prints and the error no longer appears, the repair worked. If the same error returns, the old driver may still be installed in the driver store and needs to be removed.

Microsoft printer installation and removal instructions

Microsoft printer-driver guidance

Fix 2: Remove the old driver package completely

Removing the printer from Settings does not always remove every copy of its driver. An old Minolta package can continue loading when the spooler starts.

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type control printers.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Click an empty area in the Devices and Printers window.
  5. Select Print server properties from the toolbar.
  6. Open the Drivers tab.
  7. Select the Minolta driver associated with the failed printer.
  8. Click Remove.
  9. Select Remove driver and driver package if Windows offers that choice.
  10. Confirm the removal.
  11. Restart Windows.
  12. Reinstall the exact printer package.

If the driver is in use, restart the Print Spooler first:

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type services.msc.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Find Print Spooler.
  5. Right-click it and select Restart.
  6. Return to Print server properties and remove the driver.

If Windows still refuses to remove it, disconnect the printer, stop the Print Spooler service, remove the package, start the service again, and reinstall the printer. Do not delete random DLLs from C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSystem32spool.

Fix 3: Install the correct x86 or x64 driver

An architecture mismatch is a common reason for errors that say the DLL is “not designed to run on Windows” or “could not be loaded.”

Check Settings → System → About → System type before installing anything. Then choose the driver package that matches:

  • The Windows architecture
  • The exact printer model
  • The printer connection
  • The application that sends print jobs

For an older printer, use the Add Printer Driver Wizard:

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type control printers.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Click Print server properties.
  5. Open the Drivers tab.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Follow the wizard.
  8. Select the appropriate processor architecture.
  9. Point the wizard to the manufacturer’s complete driver package.
  10. Finish the installation and add the printer again.

A 64-bit Windows system can still interact with a 32-bit print application, so the application’s requirements may matter. If only one older application fails while modern applications print correctly, test the manufacturer’s compatible 32-bit support files or use a current generic driver if the printer supports it.

Manually hunting through old driver archives, comparing architecture labels, and repeating failed installations is time-consuming. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated driver entries; its free scan shows what it finds, while driver installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and the exact Minolta or Konica Minolta package remains the correct source for this printer.

Fix 4: Check Windows Security quarantine

Antivirus software can remove or quarantine an old printer component, particularly after a security database update. Do not restore the file automatically.

  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Select Virus & threat protection.
  3. Select Protection history.
  4. Look for an entry involving mn350620.dll or the Minolta printer package.
  5. Check the file path and detection details.
  6. Confirm that the printer is installed and that the package came from a trusted manufacturer source.
  7. Scan the replacement driver package before installing it.

Restore or allow the file only when you can verify that it belongs to the trusted printer package. If the file came from a random DLL website, delete it instead of restoring it. Microsoft Defender will inspect a restored item again, so a detection may return.

The safer repair is usually to remove the printer and reinstall a clean, signed package. If Defender quarantines the replacement too, stop and investigate the detection rather than repeatedly overriding it.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC

Use this step when the problem began after an interrupted update, system cleanup, migration, or disk problem, or when multiple Windows features are failing.

  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Command Prompt.
  3. Right-click Command Prompt.
  4. Select Run as administrator.
  5. Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  1. Wait for it to finish.
  2. Run:
sfc /scannow
  1. Restart Windows.
  2. Reinstall the Minolta printer driver.

DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows system files. They may repair Windows itself but cannot recreate a complete third-party printer package. If the printer still reports mn350620.dll, reinstall the driver after the scan.

Manually repeating DISM and SFC without knowing whether the damaged component changed can waste time. Outbyte PC Repair provides a free scan that shows detected issues, while repair actions are performed by the full version. It is optional, and a complete printer-driver reinstall remains necessary when the missing file belongs to Minolta.

Microsoft DISM and SFC repair guidance

Fix 6: Restart the Print Spooler

The Print Spooler manages Windows print jobs and loads printer-driver components. A damaged queue or stalled service can make a valid driver appear broken.

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type services.msc.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Find Print Spooler.
  5. Right-click it.
  6. Select Restart.
  7. Open the printer queue.
  8. Cancel stuck documents.
  9. Try printing again.

If the service stops immediately after starting, remove the affected printer and its old driver package before reinstalling it. If every printer fails, investigate the spooler and Windows integrity. If only one Minolta printer fails, focus on that printer’s package.

Fix 7: Check Event Viewer for the failing package

Use Event Viewer when the error returns after reinstalling.

  1. Right-click Start.
  2. Select Event Viewer.
  3. Expand Applications and Services Logs.
  4. Check Microsoft → Windows → PrintService.
  5. Review the Operational log.
  6. Also check Windows Logs → Application and System.
  7. Look for entries recorded at the exact time of the error.

Record the printer name, driver name, application, and any package or architecture details. This can distinguish a missing file from a spooler crash, access problem, incompatible driver, or failed package installation.

Fix 8: Test with a generic or current driver

Very old Minolta hardware may not have a supported driver for current Windows. In that case:

  1. Remove the failed printer.
  2. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
  3. Select Add device.
  4. Choose the manual or advanced printer option when Windows offers it.
  5. Select a suitable generic PCL5 or PCL6 driver if the printer supports it.
  6. Print a test page.
  7. Test essential functions such as duplex printing, paper trays, and finishing.

A generic driver may restore basic printing but may not support every device feature. A current Konica Minolta universal driver may work with some models, but compatibility depends on the exact device. If the printer is no longer supported and generic printing fails, replacement may be more practical than forcing a Vista-era component onto Windows 11.

Fix 9: Use System Restore after a recent change

If the error began immediately after a driver installation, Windows update, or cleanup operation, System Restore may roll back the change.

  1. Open Start.
  2. Search for Create a restore point.
  3. Open it.
  4. Click System Restore.
  5. Select a restore point created before the error began.
  6. Review the affected programs and drivers.
  7. Confirm the restore.
  8. Restart Windows.
  9. Test the printer.

System Restore rolls back system files, settings, and installed programs without removing personal files. It does not guarantee that an old printer package will work on a newer Windows release, so reinstall a supported driver afterward if necessary.

Microsoft System Restore instructions

Why copying mn350620.dll is the wrong repair

A standalone DLL download can fail for several reasons:

  • It may be the wrong driver version
  • It may target the wrong architecture
  • The INF file may be missing
  • The catalog signature may be missing or invalid
  • Related GPD and configuration files may not be installed
  • Registry and spooler entries may be absent
  • The file may be modified or unsafe

Copying a file to System32, SysWOW64, or the printer spool directory can also create a misleading partial repair. Windows may load the DLL and then fail on the next missing component.

There is no verified current official download for mn350620.dll as a standalone file. Use Windows Update or the complete driver package for the exact printer model instead.

Why regsvr32 usually does not help

regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. Printer-driver DLLs are normally installed through an INF package and registered with the Windows printing system.

Running a command such as:

regsvr32 mn350620.dll

will normally produce an error or accomplish nothing useful. It does not install the printer’s INF, catalog, GPD files, architecture-specific components, or spooler configuration.

Only use regsvr32 when the software vendor specifically documents that the particular DLL must be registered. That is not the normal repair method for mn350620.dll.

Microsoft regsvr32 documentation

Frequently asked questions

Is mn350620.dll a legitimate Windows file?

It is a legitimate legacy Minolta PCL5e printer-driver component. Historical Windows material associates it with older printer-driver packages. It should not be treated as a standard modern Windows runtime DLL.

Is mn350620.dll malware?

The filename alone does not prove malware. An old or obscure DLL is not automatically malicious. Verify its location, digital signature, antivirus result, and connection to an installed Minolta printer. Do not restore a quarantined copy from an untrusted source.

Which printer uses this file?

The filename is associated with Minolta PCL5e printer-driver packages, but it does not identify one universally supported modern printer model. Check the installed printer name, driver name, and package information on the affected computer.

Can I download the DLL by itself?

That is not recommended. The complete driver package is required, and a standalone file may be incompatible, unsigned, incomplete, or unsafe.

Will SFC restore mn350620.dll?

Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows components. Because this is a third-party printer-driver file, reinstall the complete printer package after running DISM and SFC.

What if the error says the file is not designed to run on Windows?

Suspect a damaged file, incompatible legacy driver, or x86/x64 mismatch. Remove the old printer package, confirm the Windows architecture, and install a compatible driver for the exact model.

Should I use Windows Features?

Windows Features is not normally where this printer DLL is repaired. Do not enable random legacy components to solve the error. Use printer removal, driver installation, Print Spooler checks, and Windows repair commands instead.

What if nothing fixes it?

If reinstalling the exact driver, checking quarantine, repairing Windows, and testing a generic driver all fail, use System Restore or an in-place Windows repair. Do not perform a clean Windows installation solely because this DLL is missing. If the printer is obsolete and unsupported, replacing it may be the most reliable solution.
