Every month, Netflix adds movies and TV shows to its library. Here are our picks for some of September’s most promising new titles. (Note: Streaming services occasionally change schedules without giving notice. For more recommendations on what to stream, sign up for our Watching newsletter here.)

‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2

Streaming now

This pulpy British crime series from the writer-director-producer Guy Ritchie is inspired by his 2019 film of the same name — a box-office hit that moved his career-long fascination with ruffians and rogues from pubs and back alleys to sprawling country estates. Season 1 introduced Eddie (Theo James), the heir to a failing family legacy, who turned his fortunes around when he met Susie (Kaya Scodelario), the ambitious daughter of a marijuana kingpin (Ray Winstone). In Season 2, these two try to expand their empire into continental Europe while Eddie also works to win the favor of an influential aristocrat (Hugh Bonneville) who could help him attain the power of a proper Lord — but perhaps at the expense of his partnership with Susie.

‘Teenage Wasteland’

Streaming now

The documentary filmmaking team of Amanda McBaine and Jesse Moss (“The Overnighters,” “Boys State”) consider the idealistic promise of journalism with their latest film. “Teenage Wasteland” looks back at an early 1990s high school class, which took on polluters in Middletown, N.Y. Taught by the activist Fred Isseks, the class encouraged students to express themselves with video cameras. When Isseks and the teens turned their focus to the health and environmental issues related to nearby landfills, their curiosity and pointed questions put them at odds with local politicians, business leaders and mob bosses. Blending footage from the ’90s with modern interviews, “Teenage Wasteland” is a David versus Goliath story that doubles as a heartening portrait of young people getting excited about civic involvement.

‘Dang!’ Season 1

Starts streaming: Sep. 8

Three siblings bring their childhood grudges and rivalries into adulthood in this animated comedy, set in an slightly surreal and lightly anime-inspired version of New York City. Andrew Law, the series’s creator, is also the voice of Andrew Dang, a mild-mannered gay man who has recently lost control of the clothing resale website he co-founded. He lives with his younger sister, Eunice (Poppy Liu), an aspiring influencer/entrepreneur who helps pay the rent by uploading fetish videos to the internet. Their Type A older sister, Ruthie (Stephanie Hsu), is a successful lawyer, recovering from a scandal after getting impregnated by a married colleague. In “Dang!” these three alternate between supporting one another and making fun of one another, as they subtly compete to be the best young New Yorker in their family.

‘Call My Agent! The Movie’

Starts streaming: Sep. 10

For four seasons, the comedy-drama “Call My Agent!” covered the high-intensity lives of Paris-based talent agents as they struggled to keep their company afloat while handling the demands of their famous clients. “Call My Agent! The Movie” is set five years after the end of the series … and the agency. The film catches up with most of the show’s main characters, many of whom have since moved into the creative side of show business. This includes the perpetually stressed-out Andréa (Camille Cottin), who is about to direct her first movie. When she loses one of her stars right before the shoot, Andréa has to rely on all of her old agent wiles — and several of her former colleagues, such as the peppy Noémie (Laure Calamy) — to keep the production rolling.

‘A Different World’ Season 1

Starts streaming: Sep. 24

This sitcom is both a sequel to and a reimagining of “The Cosby Show” spinoff, which ran on NBC from 1987 to 1993. A generation later, Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) are sending their daughter, Deborah (Maleah Joi Moon), to Hillman College, in Virginia, where they met. The privileged Deborah adjusts to living alongside students from different backgrounds, including church girls, star athletes and working class kids on scholarships. Like its predecessor, this new “A Different World” generates stories from the issues facing colleges and college students, including divisive politics, changing social mores and the funding crisis affecting universities everywhere.

Clear examples do more than decorate an explanation: they show how an idea behaves under recognizable conditions. In education and software documentation alike, strong illustrations begin with a defined goal, then reveal the steps, assumptions, and result without unnecessary detail. A practical test example should state the input, expected output, and boundary condition, because these elements show whether a rule works beyond the simplest case. Including a contrasting case also helps readers distinguish a valid application from a tempting but incorrect one, while concise notes explain why the outcomes differ. When examples are updated with current data and checked against the underlying rule, they remain useful across classrooms, product guides, and professional training.
