“The Magician’s Room” by Artist Lou Benesch

A new series of works by artist and illustrator Lou Benesch. Her artistic practice grew from a foundation of blending cultures, after spending her childhood between France and America. Benesch affinity for nature and folk tales can be seen in her enchanted mix of plants, animals, anatomy, and mythological creatures. In her latest solo exhibition, “The Magician’s Room”, Benesch draws inspiration from dreams and tarot cards, specifically the trickster Magician. A maker of wonders, the Magician is a representation of outer doing—an active participant, manifesting and enabling action in the world. The physical and spiritual converge as Benesch transforms found antique objects into portals, revealing the intimate interiors or “rooms” of the creatures that inhabit the Magician’s world.

“The Magician’s Room” is on display at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco until August 22nd.
