Three injured in machete attack at Melbourne house party

Neighbours of a Melbourne short-stay rental unit where three people were stabbed this morning say the home has been attracting trouble for years.

A birthday party was being held at the holiday rental home on Ever Home Drive in Truganina when a group of up to 10 attackers crashed the event armed with machetes about 4.30am.

Two men, aged 18 and 24, were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

A third male victim was also injured, but ran away while paramedics were trying to treat him.

“The crime scene was quite confronting, there was quite a bit of damage and a significant amount of blood,” Detective Senior Constable Rhys Maclean-Currie said.

Witnesses told 9News they didn’t know the teenagers who stormed the party.

There was glass shattered at the side of a property, where it appears the group may have entered from. 

The group of attackers fled the scene before police arrived. 

The two-storey accommodation has been listed on online platforms for several years.

Neighbours say they are fed up with parties, loud music and violence at the home.

“I feel for these houses here because they have gone through this almost every single weekend,” neighbour Rohit Suvarna said.

“We as neighbours, we keep discussing how we can get rid of it,” neighbour Kuldeep Singh said.

Homeowner Aga Arefeen said guest information showed two adults and no children would be staying at the property.

“People are not telling the truth, what they’re booking and what they’re booking it for,” he said.

Arefeen took aim at booking platform policies for requiring such little information about guests when booking.

“We don’t know anything because it’s the privacy, so they can’t provide this privacy to us,” Arefeen said.

With glass strewn across the property and bloody footprints from the front door right through to the back door, Arefeen has been forced to take the listing offline.

“It’s a very, very annoying for the house owners because it’s a huge damage, the million-dollar property.”
