The Washington Post published an internal spreadsheet Thursday showing $333 million in private donations to the White House ballroom, with 67 gifts above $10,000. Nvidia and Apple each gave $25 million. The Adelson family and Charles Ergen each gave $25 million. Microsoft, Lockheed Martin, and Palantir each gave $10 million. At least $77 million came from donors who asked to stay anonymous. A June Public Citizen report had already tied more than half of the then-known corporate donors to more than $50 billion in new or expanded federal contracts.
The same day, Trump donor Eric Deters sued former ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle and her lawyers in Kentucky for defamation. The Wall Street Journal had published messages on October 8 in which Guilfoyle asked him to wire $100,000 to her American Express account while discussing access to administration officials. Trump requested her resignation on October 13. Deters said he will release a 16-minute phone recording by Friday and claimed it “might bring down the entire Trump administration.”
A Fox News poll of 1,202 registered voters, taken October 9–12, ranked government corruption first. 88 percent said they were extremely or very concerned. Inflation was 85 percent. A September Gallup poll had already put the share saying government corruption is widespread at a 20-year high of 89 percent.
