Every Ramadan season, there are endless options of shows to watch. But when it comes to comedy, there are not many to pick from. However, it makes one -if not the most- of our favorite genres with the scale of popularity that it receives. This year, Ahmed Amin returns with El Soffara. El Soffara tells the story of Shafik who works as a tour guide and then steals the whistle of King Tutankhamun. This enables him to go back in time and return to discover the changes of his present/future when he changed the past. After watching the first two episodes, we think it has the potential to be this season’s comedy hit, and here’s why!
Ahmed Amin and his unique style of comedy:
Since long ago, we’ve known that Ahmed Amin has a very unique take on comedy. Ever since El Platoh, his writing and acting skills have made him stand out as a comedian. Some may disagree, but each is entitled to their opinion, and it’s still undeniable that he’s indeed a talented creator.
Faces we want to see more of:
Seeing Taha Dessouky, Aya Samaha, Hatem Salah, Enaam Salousa, and Mahmoud El Bezawy in El Soffara had a nostalgic yet refreshing feeling about it. Their performances are promising and have us thinking it’ll elevate the show to another level!
Multiple attention-grabbing genres:
When comedy and fantasy are mixed with romance, you get a lot of people watching. You don’t have realistic expectations for the storyline, yet you’re here for the love story, jokes, and the flow of it all.
Relatability mixed with supernaturality:
We all have a character like Alaa in our lives. One who wishes us ill and whose existence is harmful to us. But the good thing here is that through the supernaturality of the show, we get to live vicariously through Shafik and try to get revenge on Alaa and people like him.
Time-travelling, multiple endings, and endless storylines:
The time-traveling factor in the show’s plot will unravel many possibilities with where it can go. It probably made room for the creators to get creative and explore comedic areas and several scenarios. And we’re here to see where this can go!
