Isuzu Ute Australia has revealed a limited-edition variant of the updated D-Max ute, which revives a nameplate that was last seen in 2019 on the previous-generation model.
The Isuzu D-Max X-Rider is based on the LS-M 4×4 dual-cab and is being referred to as the “ultimate all-rounder”.
It’s priced from $58,000 before on-road costs, which is $2700 more expensive than the LS-M dual-cab variant it’s based on.
Orders for the D-Max X-Rider are now open and there will be only 1020 examples will be coming to Australia.
Power comes exclusively from a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel producing 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through a four-wheel drive system.
Just like all D-Max 4×4 models there’s switchable 2H, 4H, and 4L options plus a standard locking rear differential. There’s also steel underbody protection for the sump and transfer case.
Seeing the D-Max X-Rider is based on the LS-M it also comes with heavy duty rear leaf suspension, instead of regular rear leaf suspension.
This limited-edition D-Max sets itself apart from the rest of the range with its 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels, black two-tone grille, black sports bar, dark grey side steps, soft tonneau cover, X-Rider badging, Black exterior trims.
It also comes with features including bi-LED headlights with automatic levelling, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, vinyl flooring and fabric upholstery.
The D-Max X-Rider only comes in three colours – Mineral White, Basalt Black Mica, and Granite Grey Mica.
The latter of these paint options was introduced as part of the recently-detailed 2023 model year update, and was previously reserved for the flagship X-Terrain model only.
The Isuzu D-Max, as well as the related MU-X and Mazda BT-50 were re-tested by Australian crash testing authority ANCAP in December last year and once again received a five-star safety rating.
This came after D-Max, MU-X and BT-50 models built from July 2022 received a design change to the driver’s knee and instrument panel.
