7 Best Hyatt Category 4 International Hotels

Kudos to World of Hyatt for maintaining an award chart that indicates how many points are required to reserve a room for one night. There are different redemption rates for off-peak, standard and peak nights, but the range of required points serves as a guide and gives members the ability to plan their redemptions.

Some other hotel brands use dynamic pricing, which can make it more challenging to plan redemptions. With dynamic pricing, it can be hard to know how many points you need to save unless you know your travel dates far in advance.

With eight category levels, Hyatt Category 4 hotels are midrange and can include everything from airport properties to luxe resorts. To redeem points at a Category 4 hotel, you need from 12,000 to 18,000 points for a standard room.

Anytime you use the World of Hyatt Credit Card at a Hyatt family property, you earn bonus points in addition to any bonus you receive with elite status.

To maximize the value of a free night certificate, it makes sense to redeem it at a property that’s in the highest category allowed, and that’s a Category 4 hotel. Below are some of the best World of Hyatt Category 4 international redemptions you can find when traveling overseas.

World of Hyatt Credit Card

NerdWallet Rating

NerdWallet’s ratings are determined by our editorial team. The scoring formula takes into account the type of card being reviewed (such as cash back, travel or balance transfer) and the card’s rates, fees, rewards and other features.

1. Park Hyatt Siem Reap (Cambodia)

Near UNESCO World Heritage Site Angkor, this luxury hotel is in the perfect location for tourists. Built in Khmer architecture style, famed architect and designer Bill Bensley chose to combine regional and art deco elements to preserve this historic hotel. Park Hyatt Siem Reap was once known as Hotel de la Paix. After a day of exploring, guests can return to a beautiful swimming pool and the impressive service the Park Hyatt brand is known for.

2. Hyatt Regency Koh Samui (Surat Thani, Thailand)

Facing the sparkling sea and surrounded by 600 protected Yang Na trees and coconut trees, this resort is a bucket list destination for many people. The infinity pool overlooks the beach, and the island’s lush greenery surrounds you.

In addition to traditional rooms and suites, guests can upgrade to a larger villa facing the ocean. These villas have their own outdoor bathrooms and private pools. Hyatt Regency Koh Samui also has a Regency Club to which Globalists have free entry. Other guests can redeem points (from 18,000 to 24,000 per night) for a Regency Club room.

3. Andaz Mexico City Condesa (Mexico)

This design hotel is in the hip neighborhood of Condesa, brimming with shops, cafes and parks. Andaz Mexico City Condesa has a rooftop pool and an al fresco terrace where guests can relax and order snacks from the food truck. There’s a “wooftop” beer garden (dogs are welcome), and a rooftop restaurant serving seafood from both Mexican coastlines.

4. Park Hyatt Mendoza (Argentina)

Visiting the famous vineyards of Mendoza? Look no further than this elegant hotel that is a short drive to the finest wine houses. If you’re here to ski the Andes Mountains, resorts are only 90 minutes away by car. Those who want to test their luck can visit the onsite casino. Park Hyatt Mendoza is across the way from the historic Plaza Independencia.

5. Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile (France)

Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile is the highest skyscraper hotel in Paris, which guarantees sweeping views of the city. The best rooms here face the Eiffel Tower in the distance, and these are the ones to request. There is also a Regency Club for breakfast and an evening happy hour (Globalists can access it for free).

But, perhaps the best feature, besides the views, is that the hotel is in central Paris, making it easy to walk to many of the top tourist attractions, including the Arc de Triomphe. (Or hop on nearby public transportation, which stops just a couple of minutes away.)

6. Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Residences Emirates Pearl (United Arab Emirates)

Located at the end of the Corniche (a 5-mile waterfront road bustling with activity), the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi is close to high-end shopping and popular attractions like Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace. The Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi has an enormous heated pool, a separate pool for kids, a private beach area, a spa and plenty of dining options. This skyscraper offers exceptional views of the water and local landmarks.

7. Grand Hyatt Melbourne (Australia)

In the central business district, Grand Hyatt Melbourne is close to everything from tourist attractions to office buildings. Collins Street, the city’s prominent venue for high-end shopping and dining, is just outside the front door, as are many of the city’s top tourist attractions.

Business travelers will appreciate the Grand Club lounge (also accessible to Globalists) for its private panoramic space to eat breakfast, meet with colleagues or enjoy the evening happy hour.

Using World of Hyatt points for top value

Category 4 hotels in the World of Hyatt program represent top value if you redeem points, especially in expensive destinations.

The Hyatt loyalty system makes it easier for travelers to know how many points they need to save for a redemption. And even if you are paying for the stay instead of redeeming points, using the World of Hyatt Credit Card means you rack up more points for your next Category 4 redemption.

How to maximize your rewards
