Former president Uhuru Kenyatta appears to be enjoying life after handing over power to his successor, William Ruto.

Uhuru’s recent moves portray a man who looked forward to returning to the easy, simple life he was used to before assuming state power 10 years ago.

The former head of a state has been filmed in a now-viral video driving a Mahindra pick-up somewhere in Narok county.

In the 31-second video clip, Uhuru stops his SUV car to greet a group of excited bikers after seeing him.

“How are you? Are you travelling around? All around Kenya with your bikes? I hope you are having a good time. I will come to join you,” Uhuru told the bikers before driving away.

However, at one moment, one of his security guards steps out of the car to prevent the bikers from getting closer to the former head of state.

Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions after watching the undated video.

Uhuru’s new life after state power

The new development comes when Uhuru is settling into his new life as a civilian at his 1,000-acre farm in Oloolmongi, Trans Mara, in Narok county.

Uhuru served for two terms as Kenya’s fourth president and settled into the big farm overlooking the Mara Triangle in the southwestern part of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

A stay in Narok means that Uhuru has snubbed his other homes, which include Ichwareri (Kiambu), the house next to the State House (Nairobi), Gicheha farm (Nakuru), Nyali residence (Mombasa) and abroad.

The son of Kenya’s first president has also been interacting with locals, mama mbogas, boda boda operators and herders for a drink, shopping, giving goodies or taking evening walks in neighbouring villages.
