Nottingham Forest have made a deadline day bid to sign Stoke striker Sam Surridge on a permanent deal.
Surridge, 23, played under Steve Cooper during a loan spell at Swansea in 2019-20, scoring four goals in 20 appearances.
Forest are understood to have held an interest in the former England under-21 forward last summer, before he joined Stoke from Bournemouth – where he came through the academy – in a deal worth £2.5m.
He has subsequently found opportunities hard to come by at Stoke and Forest have moved to bolster their forward line, with Lewis Grabban having collected an ankle injury in the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff last night.
Stoke will want to recoup most of the fee they paid for the 6ft 3in forward last summer.
Stoke, in the meantime, are expected to sign another former Forest target, Josh Maja, from Bordeaux to add to their own attacking arsenal.
