It looks like Cristiano Ronaldo is wrapping up his European career for good! Recently, the soccer legend had a heartbreak as his national team Portugal was knocked out of the World Cup. It was perhaps Ronaldo’s last WC and he went out on a whimper. But, if a recent report is to be believed, he is set to become the highest-paid player in the world as he joins Al-Nassr.
Marca is reporting that Cristiano Ronaldo is joining the Saudi Arabian soccer club Al-Nassr on a humongous 7-year deal. Usually, soccer players sign a maximum of a 5-year deal with the clubs. However, if the report is correct, it looks like Ronaldo is set to finish his career playing for the Saudi club. However, there is a catch!

The Spanish outlet is reporting that Ronaldo will only play for the club for only two and a half years. So why is CR7 signing a deal till 2030? Ronaldo will apparently stick with Saudi Arabia as a brand ambassador to help the country win the bid to host the 2030 edition of the FIFA World Cup. As previously reported, Ronaldo is set to receive $207 million per year as his compensation.
Fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo signing a 7-year deal with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr
Although he will earn an ungodly amount of money, it basically indicates that Cristiano Ronaldo is done at the top European level. He was a part of Manchester United till the beginning of the World Cup. However, he did not see eye to eye with United boss Erik Ten Hag and went public with his disapproval. But, the club took strict action against him and terminated his contract.
It was suggested that the 37-year-old would wait to find a club that is playing in the Champions League. But, reports went around that top clubs are not entertaining the idea of signing Ronaldo ever for a minimum wage of $90,000 per week. So it appears that Al-Nassr was the only club that was left in the race to sign the aging superstar. However, it led to some very interesting fan reactions.

If this is truly the end of Ronaldo in Europe, he will end his illustrious top-flight career with 5 Ballon d’Or trophies, 5 Champions Leagues, and multiple La Liga, Premier League, and Serie A titles. Cristiano Ronaldo has 819 goals in his club career and 118 goals for his national side Portugal. He currently holds the record for both the most number of club soccer goals and the most number of international soccer goals.
