One person has been hospitalised and four others have received medical treatment after an incident with a bouncy castle on New Year’s Eve in Tauranga.
On Saturday night, during a New Year’s Eve community celebration at Fergusson Park, a bouncy castle was blown away.

“One person appears to have sustained injuries,” a police spokesperson said.
Tauranga City Council addressed the incident on Facebook late on Saturday night.
“This evening there was an incident with a bouncy castle at Fergusson Park’s New Year’s Eve community celebration in Matua. One person was taken to hospital and four people were treated by medical staff on site.

“As a precaution, all inflatable devices were closed at all the community events as soon as we were notified of the incident.
“Worksafe NZ has been notified and we are also undertaking our own investigation,” the council wrote on Facebook.
Fire and Emergency NZ and St John have been approached for comment.
