Everybody needs to be in the right situation to succeed. Let’s say you’re a brilliant painter. You don’t want a gig painting houses. You’re an artist, and you deserve better. NBA players need to land in the right situations too.
Unless you’re talking about a superstar, they need to be on a team that has a need for their particular skill set. Otherwise, they’re unlikely to succeed.
For example, the Cleveland Cavaliers could badly use a 3-and-D wing like Harrison Barnes. He’s an efficient sharpshooter that can score a bit out of the post and in some half-court actions. That sounds helpful around Donovan Mitchell and others.
By contrast, the Sacramento Kings could use an extra shot creator like Caris LeVert of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s more of an off the dribble threat that can get into the paint.
There is something that could benefit these two teams: a trade. Both teams want to win right now and are in separate conferences. That shouldn’t hurt.
Could the two switch sides this season?
