Mobile gamers can pre-register now for Tomb Raider Reloaded.
Embracer Group, who purchased the Tomb Raider franchise in May 2022, and CDE Entertainment announced the pre-registration news ahead of the mobile game’s February 14 launch, alongside the news that users who register will be rewarded with a golden version of Lara’s iconic dual pistols.
Developers describe the mobile game as the first roguelike in the franchise, noting the game takes players through iconic series locations including the City of Vilcabamba, the Lost Valley, and St. Francis’ Folly. Keeley Hawes is reprising her role as Lara after appearances in Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.
“Tomb Raider Reloaded takes players on an action-filled adventure as they jump into the boots of groundbreaking hero Lara Croft on her swan-diving, cliff-climbing, back-flipping quest to obtain the ancient Scion artifact, clearing ever-changing rooms filled with new and familiar enemies as well as hazardous traps and puzzles,” a press release for the game says. “Along the way, they’ll acquire run-specific boosts alongside permanent rewards, like XP modifiers, runes that improve Lara’s stats, and manuals used to unlock and upgrade her outfits, such as her fan-favorite bomber jacket. As players progress through each level, they can stack perks to enhance Lara’s abilities, and even craft weapons to upgrade her arsenal.”
Yesterday, we learned that Amazon snatched up the rights for the Tomb Raider franchise for an eye-popping $600 million with the news that Phoebe Bridgers will be developing a live-action television series featuring the iconic Lara Croft. It also appears that Amazon may have purchased not just the film rights for the franchise, but entire franchise rights. How that could affect this and other projects is immediately unclear.
