Throughout the 2022-23 season, the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the best teams in the NBA. However, a recent rough patch has them coming back to the pack as they are only two games ahead of the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference standings.
The team has lost eight of their last ten games after going on an 11-game winning streak. Looking to get back on track and cement their standing as one of the best teams in the league, the Grizzlies are looking for some upgrades ahead of the deadline. More specifically, a new wing player.
With the Phoenix Suns adding Kevin Durant in a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets, plenty of Western Conference teams are going to be on the lookout for wings to help slow them down. Durant and Devin Booker are one of the deadliest scoring duos in the league. Don’t forget the Dallas Mavericks now have Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving as well.
Memphis has set its sights on two versatile wing defenders that will greatly improve their chances of advancing deep into the postseason. They are one of the teams that have been connected to the Toronto Raptors and OG Anunoby.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Memphis Grizzlies Updates
Anunoby’s market is likely booming after the Durant news. He could be the next big trade on the move. If not him, keep an eye on Mikal Bridges, who was traded to the Nets as part of the blockbuster Durant deal.
The Grizzlies have expressed an interest in acquiring him from Brooklyn, who has a glut of wings that they will look to break up before the deadline. Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and Dorian Finney-Smith were all acquired in their recent trades, adding to the group of wings they already had.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Memphis Grizzlies Updates
Memphis is reportedly willing to include multiple first-round picks in deals for Anunoby and Bridges, who would be perfect fits for the Grizzlies on the wing. Adding either one of those players to a lineup with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Steven Adams should give the Grizzlies enough two-way firepower to hang with any team in the league in a playoff series.
