That’s true. Of course, if it doesn’t come alongside elite offense, it’s not likely to win you anything.
On the other hand, nobody can simply outscore opponents, either. Offensive firepower can carry a team to an extent, but if they don’t have a quality collection of defenders, that extent will be limited.
Just look at the Dallas Mavericks. This team has offensive power to spare.
Assuming they retain Kyrie Irving in free agency, they need to focus on acquiring defensive-minded players to support him and Luka Doncic this summer.
Could they start with Cameron Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets?
